The Build-Up

Chairman looking over Brislington FC pitch at sunset
JACK ROGERS · CHAIRMAN

From the Boardroom

Good evening and welcome to the Poplar Insulation Stadium for tonight’s Les Phillips League Cup fixture against Wincanton Town. A warm welcome to their players, management, officials and supporters who have made the journey to Ironmould Lane.

Tonight’s fixture was originally due to take place at Wincanton, but following concerns over the condition of their pitch, the tie has been reversed, with Brislington now hosting the game while remaining the designated home team.

It’s always good to have another evening of cup football at the Poplar, and hopefully we can make the most of the opportunity to progress further in the competition.

Building for the Future

As I mentioned in Saturday’s programme, we’re continuing through a significant period of transition with our First Team, as Zaki Elgahmi and Mo Bokoto work towards rebuilding the squad and establishing the identity and culture we want to see at Brislington.

It’s a considerable undertaking, and one that will require patience, hard work and support from everyone connected with the club.

While results are naturally important, we’re also looking for the right attitude, commitment and togetherness from those representing Brislington. These are qualities that will provide the foundations for a stronger and more competitive team in the months and seasons ahead.

Cup football offers another opportunity for players to demonstrate those qualities, and I hope we can give our supporters a performance to enjoy tonight.

Improvements at Ironmould Lane

Away from the pitch, I’m delighted to share that work is continuing on the replacement of seating in our Grandstand, thanks to the generous support of Walters Group, who have chosen Brislington FC as a community sports partner through their social value programme.

We’re incredibly grateful to have a company of their experience and expertise working alongside us. Their involvement will extend beyond the Grandstand, with further infrastructure improvements planned around Ironmould Lane over the coming months.

These are projects that will make a real difference to the facilities we can offer our players, supporters and the wider community, while helping us continue to improve and develop the ground for the future.

Partnerships like this are hugely valuable to a club of our size, and we’re genuinely excited about what we can achieve together.

A sincere thank you to everyone at Walters Group for choosing to support Brislington FC. We look forward to sharing more progress as the work continues.

Thank You for Your Support

With the winter months now upon us, keeping football going becomes increasingly challenging, and I’d like to once again thank our grounds staff and volunteers for the work they put in behind the scenes.

I’d also like to recognise our sponsors and the Friends of Brislington group, whose continued generosity and commitment make such an important contribution to the running and development of our club.

We have plenty of work ahead of us, both on and off the pitch, but there’s also a great deal to be positive about. The progress being made around our facilities, alongside the longer-term plans for our football teams, gives us plenty to look forward to.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, particularly during this period of change.

Enjoy the game. Up the Foxes!

From the
Dugout

We’re back at it tonight as we welcome Wincanton Town for our League Cup tie.

There was plenty to be encouraged by against Street on Saturday. Although the result didn’t go our way, the performance gave us lots of positives to take into tonight as the squad starts coming together.

We have more new signings joining us tonight, and we’re pleased with the players committing to the club. The next step is to get everyone used to playing together and build an understanding of what we’re asking of them. That comes with training and games, and little by little we’re moving in the right direction.

We know results matter. We’re confident that as the squad settles, we’ll find more consistency in our performances and start turning those into results. There’s plenty of work to do, but Saturday gave us encouragement and something to build on.

Tonight is another chance to keep improving, and a cup tie gives us something different to look forward to. We want to put in a good performance and give ourselves every chance of going through.

Thank you for your continued support and for sticking with the lads while the squad takes shape. It’s appreciated by all of us.

Enjoy the game. Up the Foxes!
