The Build-Up

Chairman’s Welcome

From The
Boardroom

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Poplar Insulation Stadium for today’s Isuzu FA Vase First Round Qualifying fixture against Royal Wootton Bassett Town. We extend a warm welcome to their players, management, officials and supporters who have made the journey down from Wiltshire, and hope you enjoy your afternoon with us.

Our visitors compete in the Hellenic League Premier Division, meaning two Step 5 sides meet this afternoon. Cup football always brings something a little different, and we’re looking forward to another competitive afternoon at Ironmould Lane as we begin this season’s FA Vase journey.

Last Weekend

A Welcome
Win

Last weekend’s trip to Thornbury Town in the FA Cup brought a result I think everyone around the club needed and, more importantly, deserved. Our league results so far simply haven’t reflected the effort, ability and performances we’ve seen from this group, so I was delighted to see the players finally get their reward with a much-needed win.

FA Cup

Next Stop,
Thame

It’s also been a long time since we’ve enjoyed a meaningful run in the FA Cup. We now have an exciting trip to Thame United, of the Southern League Division One Central, to look forward to in the next round. It’ll be another step up and a difficult test, but one we’ll approach with plenty of belief and hopefully continue our journey in the competition.

Around The Club

The Reserves
Are Underway

Our Reserves have also got their pre-season programme underway, beginning with an impressive 7–2 victory over Hengrove 88. It is, of course, very early days and I certainly don’t want to get carried away, or jinx anything! — but performances like that give us plenty of reason to feel confident about the season ahead.

There has been a lot of work put into rebuilding the Reserves over the summer, so it’s encouraging to see such a positive start. Results in pre-season aren't everything, but seeing the group come together and play with that confidence is certainly a good sign.

Backing Briz

Be Part Of
The Club

Finally, there are still plenty of opportunities for businesses and supporters to get involved with the club this season. We have pitch-side advertising board space available, alongside our Player & Staff Sponsorships and Match Sponsorship packages.

Every sponsorship, large or small, directly supports what we’re trying to achieve at Brislington and allows us to continue investing in the club both on and off the pitch. If you or your business would like to get involved, please speak to us today or visit our website for more information.

From The Chairman

Enjoy The
Game

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Enjoy the game and hopefully we can make it two cup wins in two weeks.

Up the Briz.

Welcome
Back

Firstly, I’d like to welcome everyone to the game and thank you, as always, for your continued support.

It’s fair to say we’ve had a difficult start to the league campaign, but when you look at the opposition we’ve faced, we’ve come up against two sides who I fully expect to be right at the top end of the table come the end of the season.

Plenty of positives

While the results haven’t necessarily gone our way, there have been plenty of positives in the performances and I’ve seen enough from this group to know what we’re capable of.

A massive lift

Our FA Cup win last weekend was massive for us. I felt it was a result the lads deserved and, more importantly, it has really galvanised the group. You could feel the lift it gave everyone and hopefully that can be the catalyst for us to start building some real momentum.

Vase focus

Attention now turns to the FA Vase and Wootton Bassett. They’re a club and a side I have a lot of respect for, and we know we’re going to be in for a tough afternoon. They’re a good team and we’ll need to be at our best, but these are exactly the types of games we want to be involved in.

Cup football always brings that little bit of extra excitement and we’re looking forward to the challenge. The belief within the group is growing and we’ll be giving everything to make sure we’re in the hat for the next round.

Get behind the lads

As always, your support makes a huge difference to the lads, so get behind us from the first whistle and hopefully we can give you another result to celebrate.

Up the Bris!

One of Wiltshire's oldest clubs

Situated six miles from Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett Town were established in 1882. After early Wiltshire Senior Cup final appearances, the club re-formed between the wars and built its home at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

They won the Wiltshire League in 1958–59 and again took the Division One title in 1987–88, earning elevation to the Hellenic League. Wiltshire Senior Cup triumphs followed in 1998–99 and 2000–01.

The club's highest league finish came in 2023–24, when fourth place led to a play-off final against Cinderford Town. Today the club operates 33 teams and remains a major part of its community.
